Marcos Ambrose has set himself for a strong performance in the Ford 300, the finalmarcosbristol2-med.jpg race in the 2007 NASCAR Busch Series with seventh fastest in final practice at Homestead-Miami Speedway in Florida today.

Ambrose drove the Aussie Vineyards-backed #59 Kingsford Charcoal Ford Fusion to seventh fastest in final practice around the 1.5-mile speedway and was happy with the performance of his car ahead of tomorrow’s all-important 200-lap race.
The Australian worked on car set-up throughout the day, concentrating on long runs while 29th fastest in first practice and eighth fastest in Rookie Practice.

Kasey Kahne was fastest in today’s final practice ahead of fellow Nextel Cup drivers Kevin Harvick and Mark Martin.

Leading Raybestos Rookie of the Year contendor David Ragan was fifth. Stephen Leicht, who sits one place above Ambrose in the series points, was seventh, and Matt Kenseth, who sits 11th in the points standings, was ninth, setting the scene for a tremendous battle for top 10 championship positions in tomorrow’s race.

“I’m pretty pleased with how the car performed in the end there,” said Ambrose.

“A lot of teams were doing different things and different times all day, but we had a good crack at a time in the last session and it turned out well.

“I feel like we’ve got a decent package and a car that is capable of running well.

“We are looking good but it’s still too early to be super-confident. We’ll think about things overnight and work on getting a good race car.

“It’s the last race of the season and it would be really, really good to put in a great finish to end the season.”
