The 'Boss' back for more at the Motorplex PDF Print E-mail
Friday, 23 November 2007

The biggest name in Australian Drag Racing, Brett ‘The Boss’ Stevens, is back at the Perth Motorplex forb_stevens_1.jpg the final time in 2007 as he looks to replicate his teams Top Alcohol and Pro Stock Bike results from a fortnight ago that saw them take out both professional brackets in a stunning display.

This weekend (30th Nov-1st Dec) Stevens will personally be on double duties for Round 3 of the Australian Top Doorslammer and Top Bike Championships at the Goldenstates as he fronts with both his 3000 horsepower Jack Daniel’s Racing Ford Falcon and Jack Daniel’s Racing Nitro Harley.

With nothing but victory on his mind again for both, Western Australia hastm_tb.jpg traditionally been a happy hunting ground for the popular Queenslander with numerous Group One wins to his name that include taking out the last Top Doorslammer round here in March this year.

“The whole team is on a high after the Perth Top Alcohol & Pro Stock Bike results and it has given us the kick start we needed to challenge for this year’s Championships,” Stevens said.

“We have now got on top of all of our current setups and are looking forward to continuing the fight at the Goldenstates this weekend.”

“Our aim at the event is to back up our form from 2 weeks ago and take home the winners trophies in both Top Doorslammer and Top Bike.”

“Both brackets are going to be very tough though, particularly Top Doorslammer where there are so many competitors now that can pull out the times needed to win, including potentially both Kath (Stevens) and Packy (Steven Packman) in my teams other entries.”

Brett Stevens Racing driver Steve Packman will be returning to the scene of his best professional Drag Racing result to date when he lines up at the Perth Motorplex in his SP Racing Ford Falcon.

packman_burnout_2.jpgIn March this year at the 2007 Westernationals, Packman qualified in 6th position in what was at the time the quickest Top Doorslammer field in history. He then went on to eliminate Victory Bray in his quarter-final match up before going down to team boss and eventual event winner Brett Stevens in the semis.

“I really enjoyed my last trip over here to the Perth and I am itching to get back out and lay down some quick passes in my SP Racing Falcon for the fans in the West.”

“My personal best time still stands from that trip, but with the improvements we have made to the three Brett Stevens Racing Doorslammers over the last coupe of months I think that we will almost certainly lower them again if the condition are right.”

“That is another thing that is so great about the Motorplex, the track and weather are nearly always ideal for Drag Racing meaning we can get down to some hard and fast racing.”

In Top Bike, Championship leader Troy McLean is looking to build further on his recent runner up position at the Australian Nationals in Queensland by upping the ante with a victory at the Goldenstates.

A regular visitor to Western Australia on the second Brett Stevens Racing prepared Jack Daniel’s Racing Nitro Harley, McLean knows the importance of the event with a 50% points bonus awarded.

“I am currently leading the Top Bike Championship however the points are very close so it is vital that I get another good result at the Goldenstates, especially with the bonus points offered in Western Australia,” McLean said.

“There are plenty of good bikes and riders in Perth that know the track and can run very decent numbers so we are going to have to be right on top of our game and leave nothing to chance though.”

“We know our bikes can consistently run mid 6 second passes and we are hoping that this will give us a one-two finish for the team with me and Brett (Stevens).”
