More Supplies Needed!

Day 4 – Tuesday - Naivasha to Amboseli

Half way through the toughest event he’s ever done and after moving up to seventh place on the leaderboard, VK Vodka Kick Rally driver Steve Perez has officially announced ‘I’m Knackered…’

The Chesterfield driver and his co driver Mike Stuart saw out a gruelling fourth day in the East African Safari Classic Rally, despite a steady run so as to preserve the fragile rear beam on their Datsun 206Z which, it is hoped, can be fixed during tomorrow’s rest day.

In a relatively trouble free day compared to his previous dramas, the loop south to the overnight halt to Amboseli, on the Tanzanian border with Kenya and in the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro, saw the driver wilting rather than the car:

“I’m knackered and can’t wait for a day off tomorrow” said the former ANCRO and British Historic Rally Champion. “One of the stages this morning was 138km long which is longer than a National rally in the UK! We’ve been drinking the VK Energy drink like it’s going out of fashion to keep us going so I’m having to fly some more supplies in to keep us going for the rest of the week!” concluded Perez.

After tomorrow’s well earned day of rest and some much-needed attention to the car, the pair will head off into on the second half of the 4500km rally with a long competitive section from Amboseli towards Emali before heading south into Tanzania.
