Sunday, 02 December 2007
Max Wilson has guided the #8 WOW Racing Falcon to a points scoring finish to thiscar8thursday-th.jpg year’s V8 Supercar Championship Series with 15th place in the final race of the Dunlop Grand Finale at Phillip Island in Victoria today.

Wilson started the final race of the day from 24th on the grid but made his way forwards to grab the final points scoring position with 15th place, one spot ahead of team-mate Jason Bargwanna. The result gave Wilson 19th overall for the round and added two points to his championship tally. Wilson jumped Bargwanna to finish 17th in the 2007 V8 Supercar Championship Series, one point ahead of Bargwanna in 18th. WPS/WOW Racing finished ninth in the V8 Supercar Team’s Championship.

Bargwanna was 18th in the opening race of the day in the #10 WPS Racing Falcon before finishing the weekend with 16th in final race of the weekend.

Garth Tander won today’s Dunlop Grand Finale at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit, securing his first V8 Supercar title in the process. Todd Kelly was second and Jamie Whincup third. Toll HSV Dealer Team won the team’s title and Holden the manufacturer’s award.

WHAT THE TEAM HAS TO SAY …

Max Wilson – #8 WOW Racing Falcon

“After a tough weekend it’s good to score points in the final race,” said Wilson.

“To start from back there and score points is tough but we managed to get into the top 15 and it was a top effort buy the boys.

“We will now have a bit of a rest and then get set for next year. This was a learning year for us with some good moments and some tough moments.

“The team progressed a huge amount over the course of this season and next year we hope for even more good moments a progress up the grid.”

Jason Bargwanna – #10 WPS Racing Falcon

car10thursday-th.jpg“We narrowly missed the points today but we tried out best and ended the season with a big effort from the team,” said Bargwanna.

“It was tough racing there in the middle of the pack and everyone was having a big go to end the year. I ended up one spot out of the points but we gave it everything we had.

“The guys gave us great pit stops this weekend and deserve a pat on the back and a bit of a rest before gearing up for a bigger and better season next year.”

Craig Gore – WPS/WOW Racing Team Owner

“It’s good for Max to finish the year with a points scoring result,” said Gore.

“The guys never gave up this weekend. Max and Bargs both put in everything they had and in the end we finished the year with one car in the points and one just outside.

“We’ve certainly made strides forward in many areas this year and things are set to be even better next season.”
