Brett ‘The Boss’ Stevens has secured back to back Top
Alcohol wins in the Australian Drag Racing Championship with a superb
performance at the International Top Fuel, Top Alcohol and Pro Stock Challenge
in Sydney over the weekend (8th-9th
December).
After taking his Kitten Car Care Products Funny Car
to victory in Perth last month and going to the top of the
National points table, Stevens and his team reinforced their position as a
dominant force in the bracket with another great win in what were trying
conditions at the Western Sydney International Dragway.
Despite a well prepared track for the event, teams
battled with all four seasons over the weekend including warm days, cool nights,
sunshine, wind, rain and even hail.
But in the end Stevens managed to better the elements
and the tough competition to take a well deserved victory in what is a fantastic
way to enter the Christmas break for the team.
“The weather and track conditions today really threw
everyone a curve ball with the fluctuating temperatures and storms, but we
managed to consistently put down solid times pass after pass and it has paid
off,” Stevens said.
“After getting through a really tough quarter-final
against Wayne (Newby) with my better reaction time when we both ran 5.69 second
passes, I knew we had a really good chance of going all the
way.”
“To win back to back rounds in the Kitten Funny Car
is another great reward for the entire Brett Stevens Racing crew that have
worked extremely hard over the last month with some fantastic successes, thanks
a lot guys!”
“This win has also meant that we have now extended
our Top Alcohol Championship lead to 70 points on our nearest rival as we go
into the second half of the season.”
“There is still plenty to do though but we have now
built a great platform to really challenge for the 2007/2008
Title.”
The Brett Steven Racing team will next be taking to
the track for the Australian Drag Racing Championship at Willowbank Raceway, Queensland for Round 5 of the Top Alcohol and
Pro Stock Bike Championships from the 4th-5th January,
2007.
