Lifeline to exhibit innovativefire prevention system at Autosport International PDF Print E-mail
Sunday, 23 December 2007

Following over 25 years of experience in creating world-beating motorsport fire prevention systems, Lifeline will be displaying their most up-to-date fire suppression technology at the Autosport International show at Birmingham’s NEC in January, on stand 9485.

Lifeline’s flagship FIA-approved Zero 360 systems will be on show on their stand, in addition to their other safety products including their foam-based fire prevention Zero 2000 range and other safety equipment, from steering wheel boss kits to rain lights.

A result of more than five years of intensive research and development, Lifeline’s range of Zero 360 2.25kg and 3kg gaseous-based systems are already used by leading teams, constructors and manufacturers across the world.  Demand has been strong due to the physical advantages of the Zero 360 system – they are not only lighter but also smaller than equivalent FIA-approved foam systems.  All parts are CAD designed and CNC machined to ensure optimum performance and quality.

The Zero 360 system uses DuPont’s environmentally friendly FE36 gas extinguishant and benefits from Lifeline’s unique Compression Discharge (CD) technology, which ensures a very effective and consistent spray pattern when the extinguishant is released.  It can be activated electronically or manually, delivery being via 4 nozzles aimed into the cockpit area and 2 into the engine compartment of the vehicle.  The extinguishant itself is contained inside an internal bladder which ensures complete separation from the nitrogen propelling gas.

The innovative electronically-operated remote cartridge Zero 360 version ensures virtually instant release of the extinguishant, resulting in highly efficient fire knock down and fire out capabilities.  An SFI-approved Zero 360 range is also offered by Lifeline for the US market.

Lifeline’s longest standing product range - the Zero 2000 foam-based system - is MSA, FIA and SCCA approved and the range is available in a variety of specialised forms to suit individual uses, such as mechanical versions for race marshal operation to slimline electrical versions suited to single seater and saloon race cars.

“We have visited Autosport International for many years and we always come away with positive results,” says Jim Morris, Lifeline’s managing director, who will be on hand on their stand.  “It gives the visitors the chance to get a real feel of the products and receive a complete guide to the way each product works so they can understand the full technical benefits.”
