Hampshire 19-year-old Jeremy Metcalfe tonight, Thursday, 3rd January,
entered the world-famous Big Brother house at Elstree studios in Borehamwood;
the exceptional motor racing sensation revealed as one of the housemates for the
brand new reality TV series Big Brother: Celebrity Hijack.
Identified by the Big Brother production team at Endemol as one of
Britain’s most

gifted young individuals due to his prowess on the country’s race
tracks, Fleet-based Jeremy forms part of a line-up of talented 18 to 21 year
olds from fields as diverse as sport, music, fashion design, politics and
entrepreneurialism.
Having achieved mass appeal over the last eight seasons as one of the
country’s most viewed programmes, the latest incarnation of the phenomenally
successful format sees the gifted youngsters not only living under the watchful
eye of Big Brother, they will also be at the mercy of an assortment of
celebrities who will ‘hijack’ the house.
Jeremy’s involvement in the first ever series of Big Brother: Celebrity
Hijack comes as the multiple Formula Renault UK race winner and former national
and international karting champion looks set to make the transition from
single-seater racing to sportscar competition in 2008, potentially at the wheel
of a Ferrari 430 GT car.
But before then, the British Racing Drivers’ Club Rising Star is hoping to
emerge victorious in the latest Big Brother instalment which offers a cool top
prize of £50,000 to the winner – a nice addition to his 2008 racing
budget!
Speaking ahead of his entrance into the renowned Big Brother house, Jeremy
said: “It’s going to be a blast! Being a Big Brother housemate should be a
fantastic experience and hopefully it will be a boost to my motor racing
ambitions with the exposure I’ll receive.
“It’ll be good to let the general public know there are talented young
racing drivers out there with the ability to follow in the wheel-tracks of Lewis
Hamilton. Winning the show is my aim, that competitiveness is in my nature of
course, but hopefully I can have some good fun and meet some equally focused,
ambitious and successful young people. It’s going to be awesome.”
Breaking new ground for national motorsport by appearing on the incredibly
popular reality TV show, Jeremy’s life in the Big Brother house over the next
month will be broadcast daily on Freeview, cable and digital satellite channel
E4 – tonight’s first show was also screened live on Channel 4.
Presented by Dermot O’Leary, the main Big Brother: Celebrity Hijack show
(including all evictions) will be broadcast each evening at 21.00 on E4. O’Leary
