Strong
performances by the Synergy Motorsport drivers during their two test
days and Oran Park and Eastern Creek have spirits high leading into the
first round of the Australian Formula Ford Championship. After taking
delivery of the new team transporter and 2 unpainted Spectrum 011
chassis, hopes were high. Sitting 2007 on the sidelines had driver Paul
Laskazeski eager to get back into a Formula Ford, likewise 2007 would
rather be forgotten for driver Brad Lowe, both once again keen to prove
they had what it takes to win.
It
was clear on Thursday morning that both drivers were going to be on the
pace, early times suggesting perhaps the quickest of the 3 teams
present. As usual team manager Justin Cotter worked to ensure sure the
cars and drivers were performing at their peak throughout the day.
"I'm
really happy with the way things have gone today. Paul has settled back
into the car nicely and Brad has has shown his experience by posting
the fastest time today." Cotter comments.
The day ended with Synergy Motorsport drivers posting the 2 fastest times of the day.
Paul
quotes "It's so good to be back in one of these cars! I has a ball out
there today. It was boiling hot, but a lot of fun. I think I could have
squeezed some more time out of the car but I'm happy with the times we
were doing ."
Day
2 of testing was at Sydney's Eastern Creek where once again the pace
was set by the Synergy drivers. Both drivers battled the heat but
managed to work through their testing programs, and improved the cars
to handle the ever changing Eastern Creek circuit.
"Everyone
did a great job today. Paul and Brad again set the pace and were
rewarded with the fastest times of the day, which is a great start to
the year and gives every confidence for the first round. They were both
also incredibly consistent pumping out lap after lap within tenths of
each other. Matt and Lyall, our two mechanics have worked well with the
drivers over the last two days, all in all it's been pretty good."
"We
had a good car here today, and although we weren't as far in front of
the other teams as yesterday, we were still in front of them and that
is a good thing! Paul pipped me with the fastest time but I was my time
was a touch faster yesterday so we're even!" explain Lowe.
Commercial
manager Peter Bryant adds, "We're a new team, and although there are
some familiar faces around, we've never worked together as a team
before, but I am elated that everyone has worked so well together. I
think we're going to be very strong heading into round one here next
month. "
Synergy Motorsport will head to Eastern Creek on March 7-9 for the first round of the Australian Formula Ford Championship.
