Bratt In Unfamiliar Territory During Snetterton Test PDF Print E-mail
Sunday, 13 August 2006
Scorpio Motorsport’s Will Bratt saw his pace hampered during official Formula Renault UK testing at Snetterton today after puzzling straight-line speed troubles affected his Apotex Pharmaceuticals-backed car.

Ahead of the weekend’s 13th and 14th rounds of the season, the 18-year-old Adderbury ace found himself in unfamiliar territory throughout today’s two 50 minute test sessions, his best lap of 1m 06.130 seconds (106.26mph) posted during the morning and seeing him end the day an uncharacteristic 1.1 seconds shy of the top of the timesheets.

Having tested strongly at the Norfolk venue earlier in the year, today’s lack of pace proved to be incredibly baffling for the whole Scorpio team and the aim now is to ensure Will has a car capable of positioning him back among the championship front-runners as he bids to climb into the top six in the driver standings.

“Today has been very puzzling for us as we just haven’t had the straight-line speed necessary to set good laps times”, said Will at the conclusion of testing. ““We need to get to the bottom of the problem before qualifying tomorrow morning but it’s been very confusing as the car hasn’t felt at all bad really.

“Snetterton is the kind of circuit where good top speed is very important, especially along the Revett Straight, and when we tested here during the pre-season we were quick so we know we can go much better than we have today. It’s a shame we had the problems today but hopefully we’ll be back where we know we should be in qualifying tomorrow.”

Since claiming his maiden Formula Renault UK victory at Oulton Park Island Circuit in May, the Oxon teenager has become a regular in the major points-scoring positions and off the back of a podium finish at Donington Park two weeks ago, Will hopes he will be able to continue his impressive season at Snetterton this weekend.

Qualifying for the 13th round of the Formula Renault UK Championship will take place at 09.00 tomorrow, Saturday, 12th August, with the round 14 session set to commence at 14.20.

Both races will follow on Sunday, 13th August, with round 13 expected to get underway at 11.40 and round 14 scheduled to start at 15.45. Motors TV will broadcast both races live on channel 413 of the Sky Digital platform and through cable supplier NTL on channel 173.
