Tim Slade setting the pace at Oran Park
Sonic Racing's Tim Slade has maintained his strong form from last round setting the fastest time in today's two Australian Formula Ford Championship practice sessions at Oran Park.

Setting a 1:11.8143 on his fourth lap of the second session, Slade in a Van Diemen RF04 showed the speed that took him to a round victory in the last round at Queensland Raceway.

"The car was really good, we haven't had to do a great deal to it since Queensland because it is pretty much where we want it right now," Tim Slade said today.

"This morning the track was a little slippery but in the second session it had a much more grip and we were able to put a pretty good lap down in a session that had a lot of stop starting."

The second practice session was stopped a number of times with drivers pushing their cars too hard and finding themselves off the track, although no serious damage was sustained.

Second fastest and fastest in the first session was CAMS Rising Star John Martin with a 1:11.9854 while Joshua Scott continued his recent strong form in a Spectrum 011.

Championship leader Todd Fiore had a difficult two sessions and could only manage 14th position.
