Andrew Jordan’s debut season in the HiQ MSA British Touring Car
Championship got off to a hugely positive start yesterday (Tuesday)
when he lapped the Brands Hatch Indy circuit as quickly as his more
experienced father Mike Jordan.
Andrew and Mike,
who will become the BTCC’s first father and son team when they line up
on the 2008 grid in John Guest Eurotech Honda Integras, lapped within
two hundredths of a second of each other.
Jordan Snr was a front-runner in last autumn’s BTCC rounds at the
Kent circuit and led one of the races for a while – making his son’s
pace yesterday all the more encouraging.
"I shook
the car down first thing, and then Andrew did most of the running,"
reported Mike. "The weather was brilliant for us. It was cold, but
clear and dry, so we got some really good testing done."
"I'm
really pleased with the way the car has gone. It's been a really good
day," said Andrew, despite a high-speed spin at Surtees.
Jordan
Jnr, last year’s MSA British Rallycross Championship runner-up, will be
engineered during 2008 by former rallycross great Will Gollop. The team
now plans to test again at Donington Park at the end of January.
