N.Technology and Jas Motorsort together in WTCC with Honda Accord PDF Print E-mail
Friday, 25 January 2008

N.Technology will race in the 2008 FIA World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) with double British Touring Car Champion James Thompson, running the Honda Accord Euro R Super 2000 designed and built by JAS Motorsport.

“This is a really exciting project for all concerned, JAS, N.Technology staff and James,” said N.Technology founder Mauro Sipsz. “I have always had a lot of respect for JAS as competitors and now look forward to working together on the WTCC programme.”

JAS Motorsport, Honda’s official partner for customer support in racing, will be responsible for the design and building of the Honda Accord as well as its continued development, bringing its engineering knowledge to the programme. N.Technology will run the racing programme, focussing its full expertise on the new venture.

“Finally we have the chance to be in the WTCC with a winning car and a winning driver,” added Alessandro Mariani, JAS Managing Director. “This programme represents a great opportunity for JAS and all its people to show how good our car is with a great driver such as James Thompson at the wheel and a team like N.Technology.”

Following a successful racing season with N.Technology where he finished third in the WTCC, James Thompson will continue to drive with the team.

“The 2007 season has been somewhat of a fairytale,” said Thompson. “We scored wins, podiums and enough points to ensure we remained title contenders until the very last race.

“I have always said how good the N.Technology staff are. The whole outfit works very well together; it feels like a family. I was offered other drives for next year but what I wanted most was to stay, which I am with a three year contract.

“I’m lucky to have also worked with JAS and Honda in the past, so knowing what we achieved this year, who knows what we can do next season with a partnership like this one!”
