LG Electronics and The Coffee Club confirmed at new sponsors for WPS/WOW
Racing in 2008
Gold Coast-based V8 Supercar team WPS/WOW Racing
has today unveiled the new livery for the #8 WOW Racing Falcon for the 2008 V8
Supercar Championship Series.
Brazilian driver Max Wilson’s mount for the new season will again be one of the
most striking in the V8 Supercar field, with the prominent red and yellow
machine set to embark on it’s first race for the season at the Clipsal 500 on
the streets of Adelaide on February 21-24.
But before the opening round
of the 2008 V8 Supercar Championship Series, the car will make its first
on-track appearance for the season at the first official test day for the year
for Queensland-based V8 Supercar teams at Queensland Raceway in Ipswich on
February 14.
Wilson, who will return from holiday seeing family and
friends in Brazil shortly before the official 2008 V8 Supercar season launch in
Melbourne on February 6, has kept a rigorous fitness regime over the off-season.
With the tenth running of the Clipsal 500 to be the earliest ever held,
the oppressive Adelaide summer heat is sure to test drivers over the course of
the two 250-kilometre events.
“It was really exciting to see the new car
livery come in on email while I am still here in Brazil with my family,” said
Wilson, who enters his seventh season in V8 Supercars in 2008.
“The WOW
car is always one of the cars that stands out from the pack and I think the team
has done a great job of getting the livery even better this season. The cars all
look interesting without the numbers on the door panel but on the window
instead. It’s quite unusual but it is producing some cool liveries.”
WPS/WOW Racing team owner Craig Gore also welcomed new team sponsors The
Coffee Club and LG Electronics to the team while announcing the new livery for
the #8 WOW Falcon today.
“It’s full steam ahead for us in 2008 and I
cannot wait for the green light to come on for the first race at Clipsal on the
Saturday,” said Gore.
“Our crew is back in our Gold Coast workshop and
working hard on our cars and equipment for season 2008.
“The new WOW
livery looks spectacular and again our number eight car will certainly stand out
from the pack. WOW Sight and Sound is a fantastic sponsor with a great looking
race car.
“It’s great to welcome LG Electronics and The Coffee Club to
our racing program in 2008 and we are certainly going to be putting in our very
best efforts for them this season.
“Max has been pushing himself quite
hard in the gym back home in Brazil as well as recharging the batteries for the
big season ahead. He said he got a charge of excitement when he saw the new WOW
livery on email and it’s great to hear him so pumped for the year ahead.
“We are looking forward to finalising the livery on Jason Bargwanna’s
number 10 car in the next week or so and rolling both our cars out for Max and
Bargs at the first official test day of the season at Queensland Raceway on
February 14.”
