TanderSport will have twice the
Mercedes Benz power than any other team competing in next weekends opening round
of the 2008 Kumho Tyres Australian Formula 3 Championship thanks to a new
partnership with Mercedes Benz trucks.
Whilst Leanne Tanders’ new Dallara F3 car is powered by a two-litre Mercedes
Benz engine, the team will also have the benefit of a new Mercedes Benz Actros
Prime Mover to transport its cars and equipment to the opening round of the
championship.
The Actros range of trucks is one of the most advanced on
the market featuring superb levels of safety features, creature comforts as well
as the new BlueTec diesel technology.
BlueTec utilises a Catalytic
converter to lower Nitrogen Oxide emissions with the aid of an additive called
AdBlue, a non-toxic solution that helps to convert the Nitrogen oxides into
harmless substances.
The BlueTec system goes to the added length of not
only improving engine emissions, but creating a clear improvement in the
engines’ power and fuel consumption too, which makes BlueTec good for the
environment and the wallet.
Like the TanderSport Dallara F3 cars, the
Mercedes Benz Actros prime mover features an impressive array of safety features
including a drivers’ side airbag, the Telligent braking system and other
features including Lane assist, active brake assist and proximity control.
This is all combined with a stunning array of features both in and
outside the Cab to provide TanderSport the best possible way to transport their
cars and team.
”We are very happy to have our Mercedes Benz truck on hand
for the first round of the championship and the whole team thanks them for their
support,” Said TanderSport driver Leanne Tander – who often finds herself behind
the wheel of the team transporter.
”We have had a really good chance to
check out all of the features and it’s certainly the most comfortable truck I’ve
ever been in. It’s very comfortable and has a lot of excellent features that
make driving it a pleasure. We have had the truck for the week of testing and a
lot of other teams have commented on how good it is. It’s going to look
fantastic in the paddock and we’re really pleased to have the support of
Mercedes Benz for the first round of the championship.” She said.
The
Opening round of the Kumho Tyres Australian Formula 3 Championship will be held
at the A1GP World Cup of Motorsport event at Eastern Creek Raceway between
February 1 – 3.
