The
2008 Formula Palmer Audi Championship grid is looking competitive ahead of the
start of the first race in April and as well as some familiar names, there are
some exciting new faces. Entries for the series are still welcome at
www.formula-palmer-audi.com
Newcomers to the series include Alicante-based William Zollo. 17 year old
William who raced in Formula Ford 1600 last year will be moving to the
UK from Spain to start
his FPA career: "I know that I will be against drivers who raced in FPA last
year but I don't think I will be at a disadvantage. I have raced at every
circuit we go to apart from Spa and I have tested an FPA car recently, it was
extremely nice to drive and I can’t wait to get into the racing."
Two
sons of ex-Formula One drivers are back in FPA for 2008, both of them keen to
make an impression on the Championship in their second year. Series Director,
Jonathan Palmer's son Jolyon can't wait to get back on the grid: "My aim is to
win as many races as possible and keep consistent throughout the year. I have
learnt that it sometimes better to come home safe with the points rather than go
for glory."
Alex Brundle, son of Martin, is feeling particularly
confident: "2008 will be very competitive in Formula Palmer Audi, but I feel
that I've got the measure of most of the drivers. Last year was a steep learning
curve for me as it was my first season in FPA, but now I feel much more settled
in the car and my confidence has grown. It's a great calendar this year - I'm
looking forward to the season!"
Entering its 11th year, the 2008 FPA
season has been condensed into 8 rounds, including support races for prestigious
events such as the A1GP World Cup of Motorsport, DTM and the World Touring Car
Championship. The series will also visit two current Formula One circuits;
Silverstone and the recent addition of Belgian F1 circuit, Spa Francorchamps, so
the scene is set for a thrilling years racing ahead for all the drivers.
