Fuchs brings Tasman V8 Supercars to Newcastle PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 10 August 2006
V8 SUPERCAR glamour team Tasman Motorsport visited Fuchs Lubricants in Newcastle yesterday, giving Fuchs’ staff and customers the opportunity to get up close and personal with their own V8 Supercar team on their home turf.

Drivers Jason Richards and Andrew Jones were on hand to discuss their season so far and signed plenty of autographs as the Fuchs employees, family and friends were treated to personal tours of their 600 horsepower Holden V8 race cars.

“It’s great when team sponsors, like Fuchs, put on events such as these because it’s often very difficult for people that live in areas distant from the race tracks to get a chance to see the cars on anything other than a TV screen,” said Richards.

Jones added: “We often have Fuchs staff visit us at the race track and see our workplace, so it was great to be able to return the visit to their workplace. Fuchs support us heavily and we enjoy being able to give something back to them.”

“There were plenty of kids that finished school a little early and came out to meet us and take a good look at our race cars, so it was great to have a chat with them and give them the chance to see a real V8 Supercar in the flesh,” concluded Jones.

Fuchs Lubricants were very proud to host their V8 Supercar team at their Newcastle manufacturing plant.

“We’re very pleased with the opportunity for our staff to meet the drivers and V8 Supercar team- their reaction was wonderful. We wish Jason and Andrew every success at this weekend’s round at Oran Park,” said Fuchs Lubricants’ Stewart Knight.

Fuchs Lubricants employs approximately 45 people in Newcastle and manufactures a diverse range of lubricant products specifically for the mining and automotive industries. Over 95% of their products are manufactured locally, with Newcastle being one of three Australian manufacturing plants.

Tasman Motorsport hits the track on Friday for the first practice session of Round Seven of the V8 Supercar Championship. Oran Park was the Tasman team’s test circuit in 2004 when it was based in Sydney, and was previously home to the Lansvale team that Tasman was formed from. Richards has had a solid run there in the past. He finished fifth with Team Dynamik in 2003 and was seventh in Tasman’s 2004 debut year after qualifying fourth.
