First day for the drivers with the new cars PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 25 February 2008
The 2008 Racing Engineering GP2 Series drivers, Javi Villa and Giorgio Pantano, this week had their first contact with the new Dallara GP2 car at the team facilities at Sanlucar de Barrameda (Spain). The new cars introduced for the fourth season of the F1 feeder series are a big changeracing-engineering-javi-y-giorgio.jpg from the previous model with improvements at all levels and a general concept much closer to the single seaters of the premier category. This means it’s necessary to start some intense work to allow the team and the drivers to learn its secrets as soon as possible. This was the target for the work done in recent days at Racing Engineering’s
headquarters, both Javi and Giorgio, as well as the engineers and mechanics, have been working hard in order to get ready for the maide run of the cars, due on the 28th and 29th of February at the French track of Paul Ricard.

As well as working, Giorgio and Javi have also had some free time to enjoy the lovely Andalusian surroundings around the team base at Sanlucar, sharing activities such a golf match at the Costa Ballena golf course. The mood in the team is very good and everybody is optimistic regarding the upcoming season with Racing Engineering aiming to fight from the outset for the two titles: drivers and teams.

Alfonso D'Orleans Borbón (Team principal): "I think we’ve got the best technical team in the series this year. With these two drivers there are no doubts that we are going for the championship, not only for the drivers but also for the team title. This week we had some very productive work days with Javi and Giorgio. We not only spent a lot of time in the team facilities but we all also enjoyed our free time together."
