GP2: RACE 2 – HUNGARORING, BUDAPEST
Treacherous conditions made for an entertaining GP2 race with almost
half the field not finishing. Unfortunately, for Great Britain’s Adam
Carroll, despite leading for much of the race he too was unable to pass
the chequered flag.
Because of the falling rain and spray, the 28 lap race was a rolling
start under a safety car. That didn’t stop many cars spinning and
Racing Engineering’s Carroll moved up into first position which he held
for several laps before clipping the kerb and heading straight for the
Armco barrier. He continued for a lap despite no front wing before
coming into the pits to get a nose cone change.
He emerged in 21st position but after several laps decided conditions
were too bad to push for what would have been a disappointing position,
regardless of finishing the race. The race finished early after just 23
laps.
Adam Carroll: “All I can say is that I’m extremely disappointed for
myself and everyone in the team. I just clipped the white line and it
spun me round and I hit the wall. I’m very disappointed.“
