Front Row Start For Race 2 PDF Print E-mail
Sunday, 06 August 2006
Great Britain’s Adam Carroll will start tomorrow’s Sprint race from the front row of the grid after finishing today’s feature race in 7th. GP2’s reverse grid for the top 8 places means the Racing Engineering driver will start from 2nd.

A great start saw Carroll move from 4th to 2nd whilst others went backwards and some spun around him. Chasing the eventual race winner Nelson Piquet Jr, the 23 year old eventually pitted on lap 14 but instantly locked up his tyres on the exit of the pit lane. He emerged in 9th and into the thick of the action.

After holding off Josie Maria Lopez and Frank Perrera for the best part of 20 laps, Carroll came home in 7th.

Adam Carroll: “I was running a strong second and had managed to pull away from 3rd. I knew I couldn’t catch Nelson, he was just far too quick but it was all going okay until I came in the for the pit stop. After coming in from 2nd position I was quite shocked when I came back out in 9th. The only good thing about 7th is that I get a good starting position for tomorrow’s race.“

WHERE AND WHEN
Sunday 6 Aug 1000-1045 Race 2 - Sprint

Hungaroring: Celebrating its 21st F1GP, the track 10 miles outside of Budapest has a winding layout with medium and slow corners. That means it’s one of the slowest on the calendar but it’s still a challenge. The heat always makes it one of the toughest for both drivers and cars.
