BMW ace confirmed for British Touring Cars Live: Edinburgh event
The streets of Edinburgh will reverberate to the glorious sound of Martyn Bell’s BMW 320i on 31 August after the Geoff Steel Racing driver was confirmed as one of the drivers for the first British Touring Cars Live: Edinburgh event.
The Barrow-upon-Humber ace will join nine other stars– including local hero Gordon Shedden and title hopeful Colin
Turkington - in completing demonstration runs for the Scottish fans in
the shadow of the world-famous Edinburgh Castle, as the Dunlop MSA
British Touring Car Championship takes to the streets for the first
time this season.
Along with the rest of the grid, Martyn will also meet and greet fans
in a special autograph session ahead of the eighth round of the season,
which will take place on the first weekend in September at the
picturesque Knockhill circuit overlooking the Firth of Forth.
“It’s nice to be asked to take part in an event like this and it will
be good to put on a show for the fans,” Martyn said. “I’m quite proud
that Alan Gow and his team want us to take the BMW along for the event
and it will be great for the fans to get close to the cars during the
demonstration.
“Hopefully the event will open the BTCC up to a new audience and will
then lead to us getting an even bigger crowd than normal when we go up
Knockhill for the racing action.”
British Touring Cars Live: Edinburgh is the second BTCC event away from
the race track that Martyn will take part in this season, having also
competed against Turkington, Fabrizio Giovanardi and Mark Proctor in a
JCB race at Diggerland prior to the meeting at Croft last month.
Before the trip to Scotland, Martyn will head to Snetterton for the next round of the BTCC on 13 August.
