Teenage Formula Renault BARC Championship competitor Menasheh Idafar
continued to impress during testing at a blustery and cold Silverstone National
Circuit yesterday, Friday, 29th February.
The 16-year-old British-born Bahraini star, who is preparing to enter only
his second full season of racing at this level, continued the terrific form he
displayed at Rockingham on Wednesday by lapping Silverstone’s 1.64-mile National
configuration firmly inside the 57 second bracket.
Although conditions weren’t the best, high winds and sporadic rainfall not
conducive to the most consistent of test days, Menasheh impressed throughout to
leave his Hillspeed team feeling ever more confident for the new season.
“I’ve really enjoyed the two test days we had this week”, said Menasheh,
“Silverstone was very windy and cold but everything went well, we didn’t have
any problems, and the team is pleased with my pace so I’m very happy. I can’t
wait for the season to start, testing is good but it’s the racing I’m really
looking forward to!”
Prior to Wednesday’s outing at Rockingham, the Gulf Computer Services,
Ortolan and Gulfol backed racer hadn’t even seen his FR2000 Class Formula
Renault BARC car for three months. The speed with which Menasheh has re-adapted
has been nothing short of sensational.
Based in South West London while in the UK, Menasheh will not have far to
travel for the opening two rounds of the season on Easter Weekend, 23rd/24th
March, which will take place at Brands Hatch Indy Circuit in Kent.
Before then, he has three more test days in his diary – the first at Brands
Hatch on Friday, 14th March, and then a return to Silverstone for two days
alongside competitors from the sister Formula Renault UK Championship on
Tuesday, 18th March, and Wednesday, 19th March.
