Jacksons pleased with new BMW PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 05 March 2008

The Jacksons M-Sport team believes its new BMW 320si will enable it to take a step forward in performance in this year’s HiQ MSA Britsh Touring car Championship.

Driver Mat Jackson tested the car – Andy Priaulx’s 2007 World Touring car title-winning machine – at Snetterton yesterday (Wednesday). The 26-year-old finished his debut BTCC season in 2007 an excellent seventh overall with two outright race wins in Priaulx’s 2006 title-winner.

Team principal Tony Jackson told BTCC.net: “We’ve already run it at Brands Hatch andjackson_new_bmw.jpg Oulton Park and Mat definitely feels it’s a step forward on the 06/07 car. It has the latest modifications and is, in essence, a full 2008-spec car.

“We’re very pleased with some of the data we’ve seen so far, but we’re not getting too carried away – you never know what the others are really up to during the pre-season.”

Jackson’s next run will be at the BTCC’s Media Day at Rockingham, Northants next Wednesday 12th March. Public admission will be free from 1pm onwards when the 2008 field takes to the track for an official test session during the afternoon.

Meanwhile, alongside Jackson on track yesterday were Colin Turkington and Stephen Jelley (Team RAC BMW 320sis), Andrew and Mike Jordan (John Guest Racing Honda Integra), Gordon Shedden and Tom Chilton (Team Halfords Honda Civics) and Martyn Bell (Arkas Racing with Sunshine.co.uk Vauxhall Astra Sport Hatch).
