Russell Racing heads to Snetterton Circuit just eight days from now aiming for a rejuvenated display during the 13th and 14th rounds of the Formula Renault UK season at the popular Norfolk venue.

The Doncaster team’s 22-year-old driver, Matt Russell, departed Donington last Sunday highly frustrated after a difficult weekend but, even though suffering an off in each race, the Harlesden-based star went on to score points in both outings.

Matt’s race pace hasn’t been at all shabby this season and he has certainly driven well in the 12 races which have so far been contested. But qualifying remains his bug-bear and the Leoline Travel and Maltings Leisure & Fitness-supported driver has identified the Snetterton race meeting as the turning point for his season.

“I think it’s a case of things can only get better really”, said a phlegmatic Matt looking ahead to the Snetterton races. “I’m disappointed with the way things have gone for us so far and although we have been picking up points on a regular basis, I know we should be further up the grid in qualifying and that’s where our problems have been.

“Donington was frustrating, to have a couple of spins in any weekend is never ideal, but there’s little point in looking back. We need to look ahead and focus on making qualifying work. Our race pace isn’t too bad at all so if we can start a few rows higher I’m sure we’d be able to hold our own and challenge for some decent results.”

Pre-event testing will take place on Friday, 11th August, while qualifying for round 13 of the Formula Renault UK Championship will take place at 09.00 on Saturday, 12th August. The round 14 session will follow at 14.40.

Both Snetterton races will be staged on Sunday, 13th August, with round 13 expected to get underway at 11.40 and round 14 set to begin at 15.35. Both races will be broadcast live on Motors TV, channel 413 of the Sky Digital platform and via cable operator NTL on channel 173.
