Airwaves Ducati will head to Calafat in Spain this weekend for their second test
of 2008. Having completed a very successful 3 day test in Almeria last week, the
team are keen to get back to work at the 2.02 mile Catalonian circuit, where
they will be testing from Monday 10th until Thursday 13th March.
Shane Byrne and Leon Camier put in a good performance on the new Ducati 1098R’s
in their first outing on the new machinery with both riders posting encouraging
times. The team are looking to continue their hard work, further familiarising
themselves with the new machinery and Pirelli tyres, before returning to the UK
for their final test at Snetterton.
Leon Camier was pleased with his
first test and has been working to improve his fitness ahead of this test; “I
have spent the last week or so training hard and exercising with my physio. I
have been out on my Motocross bike to improve my bike fitness and I am feeling
really good. My aim for this test is to try to get a better understanding of the
bike and its settings and the new Pirelli tyres. I am looking forward to getting
back on the bike and hopefully improve my times across the test.”
Shane
Byrne was pleased with the race simulations he completed at Almeria and he is
also looking forward to getting going again next week. “If this test goes
anywhere near as well as the last one we’ll be laughing! It will be really good
to get back to work with the boys; we have lined up a few things we want to try
with the bike and the Pirelli tyres so I am hoping it will be another successful
test for me.”
Airwaves Ducati will be testing at Calafat from Monday 10th
March until Thursday 13th March. Ahead of the start of the season on April 6th
they will attend the official BSB test at Snetterton on 22nd – 24th March.
