Ambrose 25th as rain dampens Atlanta Motor Speedway PDF Print E-mail

Marcos Ambrose has driven to 25th fastest in the sole practice session held for the Nicorette 300 at Atlanta Motor Speedway in Hampton, Georgia today.

NASCAR Nationwide Series teams had their track time cut short today as rain dampened proceedings, with only one of the two scheduled practice sessions held at the ultra-fast 1.5-mile oval today. Ambrose was able to complete 38 laps in the solitary session in the #59 Kingsfordmarcoslasvegas-th.jpg Hickory Ford Fusion in preparation for qualifying and the 195-lap race tomorrow.

Kyle Busch was fastest in today’s practice ahead of Clint Bowyer and Jeff Burton.

“We got one decent session in before tomorrow so that’s the important thing,” said Ambrose.

“You really need to have that under your belt before qualifying and the race, especially when you are running against guys who are out there in the Cup sessions.

“We are giving it everything we’ve got this weekend in Atlanta. We worked at the car during that session and we’ve still got some work to do but I believe we have a solid base to work from and a good direction for the race.

“Let’s see what we can do tomorrow – but first things first, the rain has to stay away!”
