The Formula Vee class continues to go from strength to strength, with fierce racing assured at the Queensland Motor Racing Championships at Morgan Park Raceway on August 26/27.
The man to beat will be multiple state champion Shane Hart, fresh from success at the recent national championships.
Hart eventually finished second after dominating both rounds, however a mechanical drama at the finish of the final race halted his charge.
Of the local hopes, Grant Bromley is he most recent state champion other than Hart, and should be a strong contender.
“The competitiveness certainly has picked up a notch from last year,” Bromley said.
“Obviously with Shane Hart back in the pack, it's a bit of a task to keep up with him, so we're going to have to do what we can.
“We've come out this year with a new engine with a few different bits and pieces on it, so we're heading in the right direction.
“Formula Vee is a class that is evolving, with the new rules that have recently come in with the bigger engines and better looking cars, there certainly has been a growth spurt, and it's a really easy entry-level class to get into.”
Another strong competitor who will be on the pace will be Tim Hamilton, who has featured on the podium so far this year, his first ever in motorsport.
The Formula Vees are just one class on an action packed programme, with a total of ten classes hitting the track for four races each over the weekend.
