Wednesday, 12 March 2008
The organisers of the 2008 Keystone Computer Group POWERnights, the Thursday Evening Summer Motorsport Series, are pleased to announce that the race content has expanded to 5 race groups & 10 races per event (up from 4 groups & 8 races) following strong demand from various race groups and competitors

The new race structure now allows for an even more interesting mix of race cars at each of the 4 events scheduled for 2008 and at just £10 per adult ticket (kids go free) offers even more value for money. The provisional race schedule is as follows:

“The interest from race groups and competitors has been extremely positive and the opportunity to expand the programme in just our second year of staging this new series is very exciting,” said POWERnights Series Director Roger Etcell. “It seems that the mix of testing, qualifying and racing all in one day for just £295 including VAT is not only attractive but provides important additional track time outside of the competitors regular weekend programme”.

Race groups for the 2008 Keystone POWERnights events are now defined as follows:

Races 1 & 6 – Invitation Open Saloons & Sports

Open to a wide variety of Saloons, Sports & GT race cars with a handicap system

Races 2 & 7 – Invitation Single-seaters plus Invitation VW Golf GTi

Open to Kent FF1600 race cars with other similar single-seaters considered for Events 1, 2 & 3 and VW Golf GTi race cars for Event 4

Races 3 & 8 – Invitation Classic Saloons

Open to competitors of the Masters Top Hat Series with different classes at each event

Races 4 & 9 – Invitation (TBA) and Invitation Minis

Open to (TBA) for Events 1 & 2 and to all classic minis for the new British Mini Trophy for Events 3 & 4

Races 5 & 10 – Invitation ma5da MX5 & Toyota MR2

Open to all competitors of the ma5da MX5 series and in addition competitors of the Toyota MR2 series for Events 3 & 4

Race Entry Packs can be downloaded from the organisers website at www.motion-works.co.uk

The POWERnights concept of a full days testing and qualifying, with eight 10 minute evening races, along with other entertainment, had a positive reception from competitors, spectators, sponsors and the media in its inaugural season of three events last August.  The added bonus of TV coverage and prize money attracted large grids of easily recognisable race cars for spectators to enjoy.

Keystone Computer Group POWERnights 2008 calendar

1. Thursday 08 May − Silverstone, National Circuit

2. Thursday 19 June − Silverstone, National Circuit

3. Thursday 31 July − Silverstone, National Circuit

4. Thursday 21 August − Silverstone, National Circuit

The 2008 POWERnights events will be run along the same framework as in 2007 but now with 5 race groups and 10 races, with the aim to entertain existing enthusiasts and attract a brand new audience to watch UK motorsport with a comprehensive and entertaining programme of track action, interactive competitions, music and a post race ‘Party-in-the-Paddock’ that is open to everyone attending the POWERnights events.

At each event the gates open to the public at 5pm with the first race at 5.30pm and the last of the 10 ten-minute races finishing at around 8.45pm. The show then continues in the paddock with an open to all Party-in-the-Paddock featuring Awards Ceremony, BBQ and Music until 10pm.

Tickets for each event are available on the gate at just £10 for adults. Kids go FREE and parking, grandstand seating and paddock transfer are all FREE.

Further information concerning race entries will be announced shortly.
