There's a picture in the Melbourne Age newspaper of Nico Rosberg
surfing on Bondi Beach. He's standing up, looking very Patrick Swayze
in Point Break, but looks
can
be deceiving. "It was the first time I'd ever surfed," says Nico, who'd
stopped off in Sydney for an RBS PR event. "I stopped up for about 10
seconds and now everyone thinks I'm an expert!"
There was no sun, sand, sea and surfing for our Japanese new boy Kazuki
Nakajima. En route to Melbourne he stopped off in Tokyo for a Toyota
media event, where he had to speak to the press from dawn until dusk.
Talk about a rough ride.
Patrick Head has already got his
season off to an encouraging start. En route to Melbourne, Qantas
upgraded AT&T Williams' director of engineering from Business Class
to First Class, where he was joined by Christian Horner and Adrian
Newey. iWitness has discovered that Red Bull's head-honchos paid full
fares to be there - sweet.
Aussie Sam Michael flew out to Melbourne a couple of days early for his home race. While visiting family and friends last weekend, he took in the wedding of former AT&T Williams marketing guru Chris Styring and iWitness hears that it was a late night. A very late night. True, Sam?
