MAC Tools and leading team Airwaves Ducati have joined forces for an assault on
the 2008 British Superbike Championship.
The manufacturer and distributor
of premium hand tools, storage and diagnostic solutions for the professional
automotive technician, will be the official tool supplier of the UK-based squad
and will meet all the team’s tooling requirements this season.
Airwaves Ducati boast an illustrious history in the British Superbike
Championship. They won the riders’ title as GSE Racing in 1999 and 2000 with
superbike legends Troy Bayliss and Neil Hodgson and repeated the feat in 2005
with Spaniard Gregorio Lavilla. Despite narrowly missing the title in 2006 and
2007, the team have continuously shown their strength in the UK’s premier bike
racing series, taking 22 race victories over the past two years.
Mac
Tools meanwhile have a long and decorated history as a leading supplier to
successful teams in all areas of motorsport including NASCAR and NHRA in the US
through to Formula One, the World Rally Championship, Le Mans 24 Hours and Moto
GP on the global platform.
The partnership therefore is a fitting one and
Adrian O’Nion, Managing Director of MAC Tools Europe, expressed his delight at
the agreement. “We’re thrilled to be working with Airwaves Ducati and very much
looking forward to the season ahead. The team has enjoyed huge success in the
British Superbike Championship and we’re proud to be tying together the nuts and
bolts of their 2008 title challenge.”
Airwaves Ducati Team Manager Colin
Wright echoed those thoughts. “It’s fantastic news for the team to be partnered
with such a well known, industry-leading supplier such as MAC Tools. The whole
team is determined to regain the British Superbike title from Honda this year
and, with the help of MAC Tools’ range of products, we feel Airwaves Ducati is
well placed to enjoy even more success.”
