Rookie year continues for Foster this weekend PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 01 April 2008
Brisbane teenager Nick Foster will make his second start in the Ford Genuine Partsnick_close_thumb.jpg Australian Formula Ford Championship when he tackles round two at Wakefield Park in Goulburn, NSW this weekend.

Prior to moving into the Formula Ford ranks at the start of 2008 Foster had established himself as one of the country’s top line junior karters. Throughout his career in karting he had secured five state championships and finished second in the New Zealand CIK Trophy in 2007. This year marked a new beginning in Foster’s career and his focus throughout 2008 is continually learning the characteristics of a Formula Ford and becoming more competitive with every outing.

foster_car.jpgAfter making his debut in the national series last month at Sydney’s Eastern Creek circuit Foster is confident of continuing the momentum and climbing higher up the field at a circuit he spent some time practising at prior to the start of the season.

“In karting everything came naturally, I knew exactly what to do and when to do it but Formula Ford is a completely different ball game,” said Foster.

“It is the next step in my career and is very challenging. I learnt a lot from racing at Eastern Creek and I can’t wait to get out there this weekend.

“I’m a lot more relaxed coming into this round than I was before round one. Over the past few weeks I’ve spend a fair bit of time thinking about what I could have done better at Eastern Creek. Hopefully by learning from these things I will be able to move closer to the front of the field at Wakefield Park.”

Foster is being guided throughout the 2008 Ford Geniune Parts Australian Formulafoster_strapped_in.jpg Ford Championship by long-time Formula Ford competitor Brett Francis. The last time a round of the championship was held at the venue in 2004 Francis won two of the three races to second overall for the round.

Foster will take to the Wakefield Park circuit aboard the #13 Steeline Metal Framing Systems Van Diemen for the first time on Friday morning for the first of two practice sessions. Qualifying will be held in the afternoon followed by three races over the weekend.

A highlights package from Wakefield Park will be broadcast in the V8 Supercar telecast from Hamilton, New Zealand on the Seven Network.
