Robertshaw to honour Lloyd & Leslie PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 10 April 2008

The two Robertshaw Racing Chevrolet Lacettis of Matt Allison and Harry Vaulkhard will carry tributes to the late Richard Lloyd and David Leslie during this weekend’s HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship race meeting at Rockingham.

Richard, who achieved 12 race wins in the BTCC – most famously in Chevrolet Camaros in the early-mid Seventies – will be remembered by his achievements being carried on each of the current Chevrolet entries.

Coincidentally, early last month, Richard brought his Camaro - which he still owned - to Rockingham where it ran alongside the Robertshaw Lacetti for a private photoshoot (see image above).

Robertshaw also has close ties with World Touring Car factory Chevrolet team RML, so fittingly will honour David who drove for the squad on two occasions in the BTCC; first in its Ecurie Ecosse from 1992-93 and later in its Nissan Primera from 1997-99 when he finished championship runner-up to team-mate Laurent Aiello.

Richard and David died in an air crash near Biggin Hill in Kent 11 days ago (Sunday 30 March). Their lives will be celebrated with a period of applause on the first BTCC race grid at Rockingham this Sunday.

Robertshaw team principal Gary Robertshaw said: “We thought that it would be appropriate to mark Richard’s Chevrolet victories and David’s achievements with RML on the current cars for this weekend where a tribute will also be held on the grid before the first race.

“The team would also like to express it’s condolences to the families and friends of Richard Lloyd, David Leslie and those who lost their lives in this tragic accident.”
