Leon
Morris (21), from Stockbridge, Hampshire, who races for the Brookspeed Moto
Rapido team in the National Superstock 1000 Championship, has received a huge
boost ahead of his hometown round at Thruxton, after being selected for the
‘Airwaves® Superbike Scholarship’.
The
scholarship, which is run in conjunction with Airwaves®, the sponsors of the Airwaves
Ducati British Superbike Championship team, will see Leon
being personally mentored by Airwaves Ducati Team Manager Colin
Wright.
Colin will have
one-on-one sessions with Leon, giving advice on career development,
racing, and using the expertise of fellow team members to assist Leon’s
preparation and performance.
Toby
Baker, Wrigley
Marketing Director, “The ‘Airwaves® Superbike Scholarship’ sees the brand
supporting an up and coming young rider whilst extending our support and
commitment from the elite championship to the grassroots of the sport. I’m sure
that Leon will see huge benefits
throughout the season and we’re delighted that we can play our part in his
development as a rider, in addition to further communicating our ‘Kick Up A
Gear™’ brand vision.”
Leon Morris
added: “I can’t wait to get started on the ‘Airwaves® Superbike Scholarship’ and
am so grateful to Airwaves® for their support. 2008 is a big year for me
personally and I want to continue learning, so with some of the best in the
business working with me it’s going to be a fantastic
experience.
“I firmly believe
that this support can reduce my lap times, which is obviously going to be so
valuable to both myself and the Brookspeed Moto Rapido
team.”
Colin Wright,
Airwaves Ducati Team Manager, commented: “It’s a pleasure to assist Leon on
his personal development and we’ll be working hard to give him the tools and
techniques to advance his racing career. We’ll be covering a wide variety of
subjects such as improving his knowledge of the BSB circuits and also the technical aspects of
racing.”
