Brett Stevens racing going for gold at tin top titles PDF Print E-mail
Friday, 11 April 2008
brett_stevens.jpgThe Brett Stevens Racing team has made it’s intentions clear that it will be looking for nothing short of victory in round 6 of the ANDRA Top Doorslammer Championship Drag Racing series at Willowbank Raceway’s Tin Top Titles from the 18th-19th April. The team is on a high after coming off a dominating performance in the last round of the Championship at the Perth Motorplex that saw team principle Brett ‘The Boss’ Stevens take home the win and maximum points in his 3000 horsepower Jack Daniel’s Racing Ford Falcon.

Adding to this is team mate and wife Kath Stevens’ World Record setting run in February where she became the first female in history to run a 5 second quarter mile pass in a doored car when she blasted a 5.96 at the Western Sydney International Raceway.

“We are definitely bringing some good form into the Tin Tops and I will have to keep it going if I am to have any shot at the Championship as we head towards the back end of the season,” Brett Stevens said.

“I am currently in second spot behind West Australian John Zappia who has a bit of a lead, but I am still a mathematical chance so will be going all out for the win again here.”

“Willowbank Raceway is my home track as well and I always enjoy performing in front of the Queensland fans so hopefully they can come and help cheer me to victory and keep the Championship alive.”

Steve Packman will also be looking at setting some benchmark performances with the team’s SP Racing Ford Falcon Top Doorslammer in what is the penultimate round of the 2007/2008 season.packman.jpg

The Tin Top Titles will also be the first time ever in the ANDRA Championship history that spectators will see a 16 car field for the world’s fastest sedans.

“With so many fast and competitive teams now it was only a matter of time before we saw the 16 car fields, which is a great initiative for both the racers and the fans,” Packman said.

“I am setting my sights at securing a qualifying spot towards pointy end though, and once the racing starts will be going for broke for a good result.”

“If the conditions are good I think that you will definitely need 6.0’s or 5’s (second passes) to get through the elimination rounds so that is exactly what I am aiming for.”

“With the recent performances of the Brett Stevens Racing cars there is no reason why I can’t run these numbers in my SP Racing Falcon and move up the Championship ladder.”
