Ambrose fifth fastest in final practise in Pheonix PDF Print E-mail
Friday, 11 April 2008

Marcos Ambrose has finished fifth fastest in final practice for the Bashas Supermarkets 200 at Phoenix International Raceway in Phoenix, Arizona today.

Ambrose posted the top five time in the #59 Kingsford Hickory Ford Fusion around the 1.0-mile speedway in the second of two practice sessions today.

Importantly, the final practice session today was at the same time of day that tomorrow’s 200-lap race will be held, showing the potential of Ambrose in race conditions.

The Australian improved his best time by around half a second between sessions at the unique speedway, which features significantly different styles of corner at either end of the oval.

Denny Hamlin was fastest in today’s final practice ahead of Mike Bliss and Kyle Busch. Qualifying and the Bashas Supermarkets 200 will be held in Phoenix, Arizona tomorrow.

“We got a lot out of today,” said Ambrose.

“We are racing at night here in Phoenix so it was nice to know that we’ve got the car to work so well in the evening as the sun is going down.

“The car improved a lot between sessions. We made some changes and worked on a couple of areas and it paid off.

“We’re looking forward to tomorrow’s race. We just need to get a rhythm going and keep working on the car so that the track doesn’t get away from us as everything cools off.”
