Hard work behind the scenes recently
sees Australian V8 Supercar drivers Jack Perkins and David Besnard line up in
New Zealand V8s at the Hamilton 400 V8 Supercar event this coming
weekend.
Perkins, the 21-year-old son of
well-known Australian racing driver and team owner Larry Perkins, will drive the
Holden Commodore previously campaigned by Wellington’s Darryn Henderson, who’s
now racing in the Porsche GT3 series. Meguiars and a number of other sponsors
were found at short notice to help put together the deal for Perkins to drive
the New Zealand V8 who is currently racing in the Fujitsu V8 Supercar
Development Series in Australia.
David Besnard has also been
confirmed as an entrant for the Hamilton 400 trophy event. Having contested
this season’s New Zealand V8 championship with the Taupo-based SCG Racing team,
Besnard is returning to New
Zealand to drive the team’s Ford at the high profile
Hamilton
event.
The addition of Perkins and Besnard
to the entry list mean 29 New Zealand V8s will race in the support races for the
inaugural Hamilton 400 over the weekend of 18 to 20
April.
