Sunderland Student Hal Ridge (21) has made his first move into the European
Rallycross Championship, by building a Renault Clio S1600 for Division 1A.
The car, which is scheduled to be ready for the summer is being built by
HrRACING Rallyesport (Shropshire) in conjunction with RAT Developments (Lincoln).
Despite racing on a tight budget, making the move up to Division 1A has
always been the aim for the team, and the opportunity arose late in 2007 to make the step.

The more events we did in the old 205 the more we knew had to make the
move, and began a long plan to build a competitive car on tight budget, we know it wont be the highest specification out there, but we hope it will be enough to be competitive
 The car is currently awaiting the new custom built suspension which is being developed by long term technical partner, R.A.T Developments of Lincoln, who will also be building the engine. Everything is on schedule and the car will be tested in the UK, and hopefully its full race debut will be at the German ERC round in October.
Germany is a realistic possibility, and something I知 already excited about
but it is dependent on not only finding the budget but also my university studies, which seem to get in the way of Rallycross sometimes!
The German round is hopefully a precursor to a more extensive European
programme in 2009, taking in 5 -6 rounds and some events based in the UK.

The European championship is on such a high at the moment, it痴 a great
place to drive and with the ever increasing Anglo-Irish presence its a great place to show case my sponsors.
The car will be decked out in the now familiar distinctive colour scheme of
Blue and Green, which was seen across Europe in 2007 and was fundamental in achieving the BRDA Best Promoted Team of 2007.
 In addition to the new car HrRACING Rallyesport will be continuing its
successful hire and drive scheme, which will continue to run Charly Doran, daughter of Rallycross Division 1 driver Pat, and others during 2008 and into 2009.
