Team Halfords to support war heroes PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 29 April 2008

Gordon Shedden’s and Tom Chilton’s Team Halfords Honda Civics will carry logos and branding in support of the Help for Heroes charity during this weekend’s Donington Park rounds of the HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship.

Halfords is throwing its support behind the charity which aims to raise £6 million to fund a rehabilitation centre for servicemen and women wounded in war.

In just six months the charity has raised £4m and at Donington the public can also pledge their support. A £1 donation will buy a Help for Heroes wristband as worn by other supporters of the charity such as Princes William and Harry, football star David Beckham and TV presenter Jeremy Clarkson.

Part of Sunday’s activity at Donington will include a fly past by a WWII Spitfire fighter ‘plane from the RAF Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.

Shedden said: “It’s great to be able to offer support to this charity. It’s important to create as much awareness of such an incredible charity and to raise funds that will enhance the facilities at Headley Court, the tri-service rehabilitation centre in Surrey.”

Help for Heroes founder Bryn Parry added: “The public reaction to the appeal has been wonderful and this initiative will make a real difference to our service personnel who have sacrificed, and continue to sacrifice, so much.

“This appeal is all about participation and we are delighted to have the support from Team Halfords, Donington Park and The Royal Air Force, and we will be even more pleased to have the support from members of the public.”
