Bright pulls covers off new Falcon for WA V8S PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 05 May 2008
Fujitsu Racing’s Jason Bright will take a new set of wheels to the fourth round of the V8 Supercar Championship Series, the Bigpond 400 at Barbagallo Raceway in Perth. This is the first all-new Ford Falcon V8 Supercar designed and built by Fujitsu Racing and Britek Motorsport. The construction of the new #25 BF MkII Falcon has taken place over the last four months when the caged-shell arrived from Behag Engineering in early January.

The previous #25 Fujitsu Racing Falcon was an ex-Ford Performance Racing chassis. fujitsu_racing.jpg

“This is a key moment for our team,” said Bright.

“Not only does it represent the first truly designed and built Britek race car, we are confident that it will give us a lift in performance on the track.

“V8 Supercar racing is very competitive and just because we have a new car does not automatically mean I can start talking about running at the front. However, the process we have followed in the design and construction of this car has me looking forward to what can be achieved on the track.

“You never stop learning in this game and all lessons we learnt from the previous car, plus our own ideas, have been integrated into this chassis.

“I look back at Perth last year and we didn’t even get through Friday practice before having a massive accident and our weekend was over. If there was a place that I wanted to get my own back, it was Barbagallo."

Under the leadership of Chief Engineer Geoff Slater, the Fujitsu Racing Team and Britek Motorsport have constructed a car with a range of improvements.

“The car is evolution – not revolution,” said Slater.

“There’s not one key feature on this car, rather a whole range of improvements and ideas across the entire chassis.

“We made a conscious decision to take our time with this car and we have been rewarded with a very good package.

“Getting this car on the track has been a massive team effort. This has involved everyone from design, engineering and construction. Everyone has provided valuable input and the result is a car we are all very proud to put our name to.

“I’m sure the car will be very competitive, but maybe it will take a couple of events to get a handle on its true potential.

“The fact that we have so much to look forward to with this car has us all very excited.”

With Perth being on the opposite of the country to the Fujitsu Racing team’s base in Melbourne, it has been decided not to shake the car down before leaving, rather focus all its attention on the extended practice session on the Friday.
