Marshall on the march in WA PDF Print E-mail
Sunday, 11 May 2008
IRWIN Racing’s Marcus Marshall has finished 18th overall after a consistent and reliable performance at round #4 of the V8 Supercar Championship Series at Perth’s Barbagallo Raceway. Marshall enjoyed his best qualifying performance of the year, starting 20th and in the process making the second segment of qualifying.

Marshall avoided plenty of dramas throughout all three races to finish 22nd in race #1, 17th in race #2 and 19th in the final race of the weekend.

The round was won by fellow Ford driver Mark Winterbottom.

“It was far from an easy weekend, but to qualifying in the top-20 and then race consistently was very pleasing,” said Marshall.

“I had a car that allowed me to race with guys. In a number of instances our car’s strength was the key.

“We still have a lot to learn, but importantly we are heading in the right direction.”

IRWIN Racing Lead Engineer Greg Foletta was pleased with the performance.

“Getting up the order in qualifying was very pleasing,” said Foletta.

“It was a goal we had been aiming to achieve.

“The car was a strong in the races. Marcus drove very well and a solid score of points was a great achievement.

“We got a lot of information from the weekend and will continue to improve the package over the coming races.”

The next round of the championship will be held at Sandown in Melbourne on June 7 -9.
