Racing brothers Adam, Carl and Craig Stirling are hoping to reproduce their strong form at the second round of the British Super 1 Championship at PFi, in Lincolnshire this weekend (17 / 18 May).Earlier this month, they made history by all qualifying for the prestigious Bridgestone Cup at Lonato in Italy – the first time that three members of the same family have qualified for a major European race, at the same time.
All three are feeling confident and believe they can “do the business”, as dad Alan says. “Carl is on top of his game right now, and Craig and Adam are both very keen to be where he is – winning races. They’re improving every time they compete and are now capable of taking podiums.” 14-year old Carl currently leads the Super 1 title race, after taking 1st and 2nd place in the two finals at the opening round and having taken both wins in the qualifying races for October’s Bridgestone Cup at PFi, he’s keen to maintain his winning ways. “I think it’ll be a hard weekend, but I like the track and have collected some excellent results there of late. I’d like to be standing back on the top step of the podium on Sunday, for sure”. His 13-year old younger brother Adam – who also races in the KF3 class - earned praise on his last visit to the English circuit after he powered his way from 17th to 6th place to book his place for the Italian race. “The team congratulated me for my drive that day but I want to get a better result this time. Carl’s success is a big incentive, so I’ll be pushing hard to close the gap to him.” Similarly the eldest of the three at 16, Craig, is keen to show that he’s got the ability to beat the best. “There’s a lot of banter between us and of course, Carl’s been ribbing me about his success. But I was 3rd last time out and I’ve proved that I can beat very, very good opposition. There’s a load of guys returning from racing in Europe this weekend, so they’ll be tough to beat but I really cannot wait to get at them.” With morale high between the boys and their Millennium Team, boss Dean Panrucker says: “There’s a long way to go in the Championship but they’re hungry for more success and we’re all very motivated. I think they’ll be up there with the best on Sunday.”
