Six categories headed to the
Adelaide
circuit, with the hearty crowd who braved some wild weather treated to exciting
racing.
Youlden, who will line up for Ford
Performance Racing in this year's V8 Supercar endurance races, started his
Kerrick Sports Sedan Series campaign in style, winning two races including the
Clem Smith Cup behind the wheel of a Ford Mustang.
"We weren't sure how the car would
fare against the established guys when we brought it over from
New
Zealand, but it's been a perfect weekend," he
said.
"Two race wins and a round win is a
great start to the series, I'm looking forward to the rest of the
year."
Six-time Australian champion Tony
Ricciardello endured a problematic weekend in his Alfa Romeo, but fought back to
win the final race ahead of Darren Hossack (Audi) and
Youlden.
Driving for Adelaide-based Team BRM,
Caratti was second in Race One and won Race Two of the Kumho Tyres Australian
Formula 3 Championship action, moving into the championship
lead.
Leanne Tander was also in the
winner's circle, taking out the opening race and finishing second in Race Two
after a late-race pass on Neil McFadyen.
"It's nice to finally break though
after probably having one of the fastest cars in the field since we won at Round
One," Caratti said.
"The results are great as they
put us in a very good position in the championship.
"There's a long way to go but it's
good to get the result here and set us up for a good second half of the
season."
