Airwaves Ducati confirmed for Donnington PDF Print E-mail
Friday, 23 May 2008
Following a week of negotiations with MCRCB Team Principal Darrell Healey has confirmed that GSE Racing will race at Donington Park this weekend. “It has been a very busy week for GSE Racing off the track! I am delighted to confirm that as a result of the amendments to the MCRCB Bulletin 2008/6, addressing the teams safety concerns, Airwaves Ducati will be in a position to compete this bank holiday weekend in round 4 of the British Superbike Championship. Donington Park has to be one of GSE Racing’s favourite circuits; not only is it an exciting track for the Airwaves Ducati but we have achieved fantastic results there in previous seasons and we look forward to continuing that this weekend.”

Both Airwaves Ducati riders are looking forward to getting back on their Ducati 1098R’s at the 2.5mile Derbyshire circuit following their 3 podium place finishes at Brands Hatch two weeks ago. Their impressive form has resulted in a 44 point lead in the championship for Shane Byrne with team mate Leon Camier in 3rd place on 83 points.

Although disappointed not to have done the double at his home circuit Shane Byrne is confident for another positive performance on bank holiday Monday; “Not winning the double at Brands Hatch has got me really fired up for this weekend. I have pretty much been looking forward to Donington ever since the end of race two at Brands Hatch! I think we will do well, it’s a circuit that suits the Ducati 1098R and I can’t wait to get there and get started.”

Leon Camier appreciates that this weekend will be a learning curve for him but he will still be pushing hard for his first win of the season. “I have not raced a Superbike at Donington before so I will have learn the track quickly. I am very confident though; the Airwaves Ducati is feeling better and better as I am constantly learning more about the bike and how to get the best out of it. A win would be fantastic but I would be happy with two podium finishes and some solid championship points.”

Airwaves Ducati will line up for round 4 of the Bennetts British Superbike championship on Monday 26th May.
