Kiwi Harvey makes the trip for Castrol Edge Winternatinals PDF Print E-mail

Auckland’s Rod Harvey will make the trip across the Tasman for the season-ending Castrol EDGE Winternationals at Willowbank Raceway on June 5-8. Thirty-seven year old Harvey will compete in the Pro FX Feature Match Race aboard his Rayglass sponsored Toyota Celica.

With some strong results under his belt at Willowbank Raceway it looks likely that all the hard work to get the Celica ready for its trip to Ipswich will pay off for Harvey.

“There is certainly no time to relax when you are trying to get drag racing cars ready for trips to Australia, especially for meetings like the Castrol EDGE Winternationals,” mused Harvey.

“I ran my personal best at Willowbank, have the fastest four cylinder Pro Compact car there and won best engineered car at the 41st Willowbank Raceway Nationals, so I enjoy heading there.

“Willowbank is a great track to race on and always well prepared, and it is always a challenge to try and better your top results so that is something I am really looking forward to - hopefully I can meet my goal of running a six second pass in the Pro FX Feature Match Race.”

The Pro FX Feature Match Race Harvey refers to is in addition to the enormous array of ANDRA Championship Drag Racing set to hit the quarter-mile at Willowbank Raceway come June 5-8, with all of the Group One action of Top Fuel, Top Alcohol, Top Doorslammer, Pro Stock, Pro Stock Motorcycle and Top Bike complimented by a bumper support program of Group Two and Three competition including everything from Super Gas to Supercharged Outlaws to Junior Dragster to Street Sedans.

With championships in many of the categories set to be decided at the Queensland hit-out, emotions are set to run high with thrilling passes guaranteed for spectators.

Fans and crew members at this year’s Castrol EDGE Winternationals will also have the opportunity to test drive the new-and-improved Willowbank Raceway website –www.willowbank-raceway.com.au – before it officially launches on July 1, with a fully operational marquee available for fans to hop online and have a look around what will be the new home of all their local drag racing action.
