Adrian Quaife-Hobbs will have his
only home race of 2008 when he competes in the
UK As a support race to the exciting World
Series by Renault Championship (WSR), the event is free to spectators and last
year’s event was attended by more that 80,000
people. round of the Eurocup Formula
Renault 2.0 Championship at Silverstone over the weekend of 7-8 June.
Adrian, from Tonbridge in
Kent, is setting the paddock alight
with his impressive speed in both the Eurocup and Renault 2.0 Italia Cup, in
which he is currently lying third. His
next race will be the fourth round of the Italia series at Spa-Francorchamps
this coming weekend.
The following weekend, the Eurocup
circus moves from mainland Europe to take in its only British round,
on the famous Silverstone circuit in Northamptonshire. Adrian will join the other series
regulars at the home of the British Grand Prix for the event which kicks off
with testing on Friday 6 June. Two races will be held, one on Saturday and one
on Sunday.
The 17 year-old double T-Cars
champion is in only his first full season in Formula Renault, the category that
set Lewis Hamilton, Kimi Raikkonen and Felipe Massa on the road to Grand Prix
stardom. Ferrari F1 star Massa successfully competed in Formula
Renault in 2000 clinching both the Eurocup and Italia Cup
titles.
“I can’t wait to race at
Silverstone as it’s the only home event of the season,” said
Adrian.
“Formula Renault has such a strong pedigree with so many of the top names
on the F1 grid having come up through the class, either in the British, Italian
or Eurocup series’.
“To be racing on the
same track used by those drivers will be a fantastic experience and it would be
great to have all my friends, family and supporters there as I bid for my first
victory in the class.”
