Australian rookie Sam Abay headed
the field of 28 drivers, setting the
quickest time at Wednesday's official
British Formula 3 test at Thruxton in
Hampshire.
Despite much of the morning
session being hampered by poor weather
conditions, the rain eased in the
afternoon and with the track drying
slightly, the times began to
tumble. Abay set the quickest time of
the day
11 laps into the afternoon
session.
With track conditions once again
deteriorating due to heavy rain, the test
concluded one hour
early.
"The morning session was okay, it
was wet throughout, and we didn¹t change that much on the car. In the
afternoon, we made a couple of changes to the set-up and I knew I could make
improvements. In terms of preparing the car for the race
here next month, the rain compromised everyone's efforts, but from my point of
view, every bit of seat-time I can get in an F3 is incredibly valuable." said Abay
The British F3 teams will return
to Thruxton for rounds 11 and 12 of the
2008 season at the end of June.
The next stop on the F3 calendar will be at
Snetterton from 7 8
June.
