Bratt Takes Dominant Maiden F3 Pole Position At Spa PDF Print E-mail
Saturday, 31 May 2008
British motor racing star Will Bratt scorched to an incredible debut Formula 3 pole position at the legendary Spa-Francorchamps circuit this morning, Saturday, 31st May, to head the grid for this afternoon’s third round of the 2008 FIAT Spanish F3 Championship.
The 20-year-old, from Banbury in Oxon, lapped the challenging Belgian track with awillbr1.jpg best time of 2m 17.348 seconds to take his first pole position in the category by a stunning seven 10ths of a second from nearest rival, Frenchman Nelson Panciatici. Series leader Victor Garcia was ninth.

Will said: “It’s absolutely fantastic to achieve my first ever pole in Formula 3 and even sweeter that it’s happened at an awesome circuit like Spa. I’m really looking forward to this afternoon’s race as we obviously have a great chance to finish on the podium and, who knows, maybe even claim our first win in an F3 car.”

Currently in sixth position in the driver standings after the opening two rounds at the Spanish circuit of Jarama at the start of the month, Will is just eight points behind Garcia in the title race. Other than Friday’s pair of 30-minute practice sessions, Will had never experienced Spa before so his achievement today is all the more remarkable.

Round three of the 2008 FIAT Spanish F3 Championship takes place at 15.35 (local time) this afternoon, Saturday, 31st May.
