The new season of the A1GP World Cup of Motorsport will be contested in brand new cars, which are currently in production.  A1 Team Malaysia, alongside the other nations, will run the new car for the first time at an official test scheduled for 18 – 20 August at Silverstone in the UK. A final test session will take place in Mugello from 17 -18 September, ahead of the first race of the season at that track.  Jack Cunningham, Chief Executive, A1 Team Malaysia says of the new calendar, “We’re pleased that our team has a race in our country, with a chance for all our fans to see their national team running again on home soil. It’s always been a special event for us in the three years that we’ve competed at Sepang, due to the tremendous support we’ve been given from our fans - so we’re hoping that our fourth visit will be another special one.  The calendar has a good balance of countries with different types of tracks, and we’re looking forward to being on the grid at the start of the season in Mugello. Before then we’ll have plenty of work to do in preparing for the debut of the new more advanced and more powerful car, and being ready to represent Malaysia in A1GP in the new season.  There are projections suggesting that the new car will be over 4 seconds a lap faster at Sepang than the old A1 car so its going to be altogether a big step us for us and all the other teams in A1GP.   A1 Team Malaysia is looking forward to that challenge.”
