Airwaves Ducati return to the track this weekend for round 5 of the British
Superbike Championship at Snetterton. The team head to the Norfolk circuit with
Shane Byrne leading the championship on 190 points and team mate Leon Camier in
3rd on 107 points.
The 1.95 mile Snetterton circuit is one of the fastest on the BSB calendar, the
speed required on its long straights coupled with few opportunities to overtake
makes it a challenging circuit for the Ducati 1098R’s. However following the
teams’ impressive results at Donington 3 weeks ago, where Shane achieved a
double win and Leon secured 4th and 5th positions, Airwaves Ducati are positive
about the weekend ahead.
Leon is excited about returning to the track
saying; “I reckon we are going to find it quite tough this weekend; I think we
may lack the speed needed for a circuit like Snetterton but I am still looking
forward to getting there and giving it a good go. Over the last few weeks I have
been training hard, doing lots of cycling and I am feeling strong now. I have
managed to relax a bit too but now I am keen to get back out there; I am not
very good at sitting still for long!”
Shane is feeling relaxed and
confident commenting; “Over the last few weeks I have had a pretty equal balance
of training and relaxing. My Mum has come out to visit me and Petra and we have
chilled out but I have also been cycling and down the gym lots so I am feeling
pretty good. I think Snetterton will be more difficult than the races we have
had so far this season. However I am confident the Airwaves Ducati team will
provide me with the best possible package and I know that I will do the best I
possibly can so we will have to wait and see what happens.”
Round 5 of
the Bennetts British Superbike Championship takes place this weekend, with
qualifying on Saturday June 14th followed by 2 races on Sunday June 15th.
