Kentucky a big oppertunity race for Ambrose PDF Print E-mail
Friday, 13 June 2008
Marcos Ambrose is looking to add his name to list of winner’s who have earned breakthrough wins in the Meijer 300 at Kentucky Speedway in Sparta, Kentucky this weekend.

The 1.5-mile Kentucky Speedway is a track known for producing upset victories for Nationwide Series drivers, breaking the domination of the Cup drivers who also dabble in Nationwide Series events.

In 2006 David Gilliland produced a stunning victory in Kentucky, while last year it was Stephen Leicht’s turn to produce the good and earn the win in his Ford Fusion. Bobby Hamilton Jr also captured his first win at Kentucky.

Ambrose currently sits 14th in the 2008 NASCAR Nationwide Series standings and is looking for a strong result in Kentucky to leap closer to a top 10 points position.

Ambrose has previous form at Kentucky Speedway, the scene of his first test with JTG Racing back in 2005 as well as his maiden NASCAR pole position in the 2006 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.

“Kentucky is a place where we have had good speed in the past,” said Ambrose.

“I like the track and I think it’s a place where we can show our true potential.

“We haven’t had the best luck in some instances but you can’t dwell on that. Our team is still pushing on and working our hardest to keep moving forward.

“I’ve got some good memories of strong performances at Kentucky and I think we are capable of repeating that this weekend.”
