After a couple of months out with a broken leg, Tommy Bridewell
returned to track action with a battling thirteenth place in the latest round of
the Suzuki GSX-R 750 European Cup which took place at the Nurburgring in Germany
today.
The 18 year old from Etchilhampton near Devizes in Wiltshire had to overcome
his lack of knowledge of the track and the cold weather which affected his leg
to score points for the second time this season and following on from four wild
card riders in front of him, Tommy ended up in ninth place points overall.
Speaking afterwards he said: "I was a little nervous coming into the
race, and I really struggled in practice but it wasn't too bad in the race. My
main problem was adapting back to the bike after a couple of races on the
superbike and that's something I need to work on. Overall I'm happy with the
result on my return but I need to be challenging much higher up the order as
there's no point wobbling around in the lower leaderboard places. We'll see how
we go at Misano in two weeks time and hopefully, things will go better for
us."
After the race in Misano in Italy, Tommy will return to the Italian Superbike
Championship at the same track on July 27th.
